How to Get a Brighter Smile

Do you have yellowed or darkened teeth? Simple lifestyle changes allow you to have a brighter smile. Patients with stubborn stains can also benefit from professional solutions offered by Drs. Williams, Solberg, & Miller.

Oral Hygiene

Brushing and flossing teeth and gums properly is really the best way to keep your smile bright. Poor oral hygiene can allow plaque to develop. Plaque can turn into tartar and needs to be removed by a professional.

Avoiding Tobacco/Smoking Products

Smoking and tobacco products stain teeth and gums and lead to gum disease. The dark pigments can wreak havoc on the color of your teeth and leave difficult-to-remove dark stains.

A Healthy Diet

Sugary foods and drinks can be bad for you for a lot of reasons, but they can also cause increased plaque buildup and decay – two enemies of a beautiful white smile. One of the most common causes of discoloration from foods dark pigments. Much like tobacco, dark drinks and foods can almost dye the teeth a darker shade. Wine, coffee, and tea are all common culprits. Try drinking water instead to wash your mouth clean.

Treatments for a Brighter Smile

For in-office teeth whitening, we offer ZOOM! We carefully cover the lips and gums to reduce irritation before applying the whitening gel to the teeth. The whitening is activated with a special light. In-office teeth whitening usually takes about an hour in our Altamonte Springs dental office. Results are noticeable immediately after your treatment.

For at-home teeth whitening, we will take impressions of your teeth and create custom teeth whitening trays. We will review your treatment instructions with you during your appointment to ensure your treatment is effective and comfortable. Patients will usually notice results around the 10-14 day mark. At-home teeth whitening is an ideal option for patients who are on the go and want to achieve whiter teeth on their own time.
